Maintenance Technician

The University of Valley Forge seeks a full-time Maintenance Technician to work in our Facilities Department. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities.

Maintenance Duties

  • Perform semi-skilled, repetitive maintenance, installation and repair work in the University dormitories.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to inspect, maintain and repair various building trade works, including electrical, plumbing, heating, water and sewer systems, carpentry, drywall, painting and tile work.
  • Perform preventive maintenance work.
  • Carry out inspections and routine maintenance, troubleshoot and repair various building environmental systems including HVAC.
  • Communicate with coworkers and management regarding routine and emergency repairs to ensure jobs are completed in a quality and timely manner.
  • Check functionality of safety systems including fire alarms, emergency lights and exit signs.
  • As essential personnel, work during snow events (salting, plowing and shoveling) and other weather related emergencies.

General Responsibilities

  • Serve on Maintenance On-Call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops and trainings.
  • Utilize all proper safety precautions related to work performed.
  • Assist with inventory control and security.
  • Setup facilities for tier-one events such as graduation.


  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Must be able to follow instructions given orally or written.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work ethics.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have own transportation and tools.
