Online Admissions Counselor – Recruiter

This is a full-time benefited position in which the Counselor performs a variety of duties in the identification and recruitment of prospective online University students. This position reports to the Director of Admissions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Represent the University at job fairs, education fairs, community colleges, professional businesses as well as other venues, and events in the community to help build strategic partnerships that generate positive lead flow
  • Requires up to 50% travel time to attend college fairs, job fairs, conventions and visits to high schools and other organizations. (requires a valid driver’s license)
  • Maintain a travel schedule, manage a travel budget, and submit weekly reports
  • Able to speak publicly at churches, organizations, and large events
  • Recruit and process various applications from inquiry to enrollment
  • Maintain regular communication with the inquiries and applicants, track weekly progress on all applications and keep files up-to-date utilizing UVF’s student information systems (Jenzabar & Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Program (Liaison’s EMP)
  • Communicate accurately regarding University policies, programs, and services
  • Consistently collect and save data on all events, and be involved in making evidence-based recommendations for future events
  • Oversee prospective student communications and progress via EMP (CRM Program)
  • Respond to daily “to do lists”, including emails, texts, and phone calls
  • Assist with various mailings and marketing campaigns as needed
  • Contribute personal insight and perspective in regard to observed market trends
  • Demonstrate commitment to the University mission

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with the Director weekly and attend Admissions team meetings
  • Collaborate with various departments on behalf of students
  • Attend all staff training events

Work Environment

The work environment consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment.  Most of the job on campus is performed while sitting.  When representing the University in the community at events and with strategic partners, the work may require standing for long periods of time, walking while carrying small objects, and lifting and carrying of small object.  Regular travel should be expected.

  • Ability to implement new program initiatives
  • Able to understand and explain multiple degree and non-degree programs
  • Enthusiastically represent UVF to prospective students and families
  • Ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Work well with parents, teenagers and older adults
  • Sensitive to working with confidential information

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to learn EMP software and an ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to learn Jenzabar 5.0 student information system
  • Ability to communicate well over the phone and through email
  • Experienced representing an organization in a Business-to-Business context a plus
  • Experienced in developing and facilitating oral presentation in front of small and large audiences

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree – candidates graduating within a short period of time may be considered
  • This is an entry level position; prior experience in Admissions is a plus
