Connecting to the Vine: Alumni Reflection

This morning when I came in to work and turned on my computer I quickly realized that my Internet was not working. After I tried unsuccessfully to remedy the problem, I picked up my phone receiver to call IT to come to my rescue and there was no dial tone. So I had to ask someone to call them for me. Our wonderful IT team very quickly attended to my need and got everything up and running within a short amount of time. I was reminded that so much in our lives depends on connections. If we want to be able to function and be successful, we need to be connected to the network to which we belong.

Our focus here at UVF this semester is about the most important life connection of all – His Presence: Abide and Live which is based on John 15:5 “I am the Vine, you are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same shall bring forth much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing.”

During my tenure as a student, I participated in concert choir, and our “signature song” was entitled “I Am the Vine” and was taken directly from this scripture. Of all the lessons that I learned while being on campus as young person, this was my greatest take-away. I am thankful that this verse was etched into my heart and became a foundation for my life. And I am so grateful that this continues to be a solid pillar for our students as we focus on this truth in chapel, small groups, and throughout the life of our campus! Please enjoy this rendition of our current concert choir rehearsing  “I Am The Vine” included below.
