Homecoming 2018 Recap

UVF’s campus resounded with joy and laughter as many of our alumni family returned for Homecoming Week 2018 from October 16-21. Some special features for both students and alumni included our chapel services, an alumni luncheon, campus tours, “Classroom Connections,” and reunion dinners.

Our alumni chapel speakers included missionary Jenny Duncan ‘13, Rev. Tom Rees ‘84, Rev. Carrie (Maurio) Brooks ‘07, and Dr. Gary Seevers ‘81. This year, our Distinguished Young Alumni Award went to Rev. Carrie Brooks and the Distinguished Alumni Award went to Dr. Gary Seevers. One particular chapel highlight continued again this year as the alumni prayed for the seniors and presented them with their alumni blankets.

Fellowship was enjoyed at the well-attended alumni luncheon. President David Kim and Alumni President Kim Keinath shared from their hearts of their passion for the Lord’s work at UVF and their vision for future generations. The luncheon closed with a very powerful time of prayer for students.

Friday evening closed with alumni enjoying their 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, and 50th class reunion dinners at local restaurants in Phoenixville.

Saturday morning began with a 5K race sponsored by the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), and the afternoon activity was the Amazing Race where both students and alumni teamed up to participate in challenges which which took them around the campus and celebrated Valley Forge. Saturday evening closed with the annual Black and White Gala, where the Ashcroft Awards were presented to seniors Sophie Benco and Gorge Andino, and students shared their gifts and talents in music, poetry, and American Sign Language (ASL).

All the alumni in attendance expressed their happiness in returning and seeing what God is doing among our students today. They enjoyed the activities, reminiscing about their days of being a student at UVF; and most of all, they expressed that they would continue to pray for the Spirit of God to flow freely over the campus.
