Homecoming Speaker Highlights

The week of October 10-14, 2017 was Homecoming week for the University of Valley Forge (UVF), during which several distinguished alumni returned to reflect, reminisce, and inspire students during our chapel services and special events. With great celebration, the UVF community also witnessed the inauguration of UVF’s tenth president, the Reverend David S. Kim.

On Tuesday, Rev. Tom Keinath ’81, delivered a message on “The Unconventional Jesus,” reminding listeners that as believers in an unconventional Jesus, we should also lead lives unconventionally committed to Christ. You can find the webcast of his message here.

On Wednesday, Jessica Buchanan ’07 – teacher, humanitarian, author, and speaker – captivated all as she gave her inspirational testimony of the time she was kidnapped by Somali pirates and held for ransom for three months. She was also the recipient of the Young Alumni Award. You can listen to her testimony here.

On Thursday, the UVF community and special guests gathered in the Flower Chapel for the inauguration service of President Kim at 3 PM. You can read about the ceremony here and watch the recorded webcast here.

On Friday, Dr. Stephen Tourville ’73, vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees and superintendent of the Penn-Del District spoke on “The Journey” and how it is never exactly what we think it will be. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award for his many years of service in the church and in the world. And the end of his message, Tourville called the graduating seniors of the class of 2018 to the front to receive prayer and their alumni blankets, presented by the class of 1967. You can find his message here.
