Truths to Remember When Life Gets You Down

Truths to Remember When Life Gets You Down

I don’t know about you, but I know I have some days in life that are harder than others. Even if it seems like nothing is going right, I’m missing home, or I’m worrying about what the future holds, I know I can always turn to God’s Word and hear from His heart.

In compiling this list of truths to remember, I wanted to share verses that have helped me focus on the goodness of God in my life and in the lives of every believer. I hope each of these biblical truths speak to you the way they’ve spoken to me.

1. I am a child of God.
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” -Romans 8:16-17 ESV

2. God has a plan for my life.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” -Proverbs 16:9 ESV

3. I am fearfully and wonderfully made
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” -Psalm 139:14 ESV

4. I have been created with a purpose.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” -Ephesians 2:10 ESV

5. I am a new creation in Christ.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” -2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

6. My body is a temple in which the Holy Spirit dwells.
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” -1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV

7. God will take care of me.
“Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.” -Psalm 34:10 NLT

8. The peace of God will calm any situation.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
