A Christmas Tradition at Valley Forge
The University of Valley Forge’s annual Christmas at Valley Forge concert is always a highlight of the Christmas season. As Dr. DeSanto, Music Department chair, explains, “The tradition of Christmas at Valley Forge is an opportunity to model for our students how we can use our musical gifts to honor Christ and bring Him Glory during the Christmas season.”
Collaboration Between Students and Professionals
The talented students and dedicated faculty at UVF worked extremely hard to practice and perform various pieces of the beloved annual Christmas at Valley Forge concert to be enjoyed in person to an almost sold-out audience and virtually via both UVF’s YouTube channel and Facebook livestream. This collaborative effort provided unique opportunities for students, as Dr. DeSanto notes: “Our students have the opportunity to participate in a production where they play and sing alongside other professional musicians. This is an invaluable experience for all involved.”
Classical and Contemporary Performances
The concert featured pieces performed by the UVF Wind Ensemble and University Choir, including excerpts from Handel’s Messiah alongside a mix of classical and contemporary pieces. “It is rewarding to see our students work hard and glorify the Lord with their gifts,” reflects Dr. DeSanto. “As Christian musicians, this must always be our main goal – to bring Glory to God through our music.”
Behind the Scenes
Special thanks also goes to the Media Production Team and the Digital Media Department for their hard work in recording and producing the live stream of the concert for everyone to enjoy. The event has become more than just a performance; as Dr. DeSanto observes, “Christmas at Valley Forge has a way of bringing our entire UVF community together where we can celebrate the season.”
