Homecoming 2020 Online Recap

Homecoming 2020 Online Recap

Due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions, UVF elected to make this year’s Homecoming an online experience! It meant reorganizing Homecoming and its festivities to all be online during the week of October 13th-16th, instead of the usual Friday-Saturday events of previous years. These days were designated as times where alumni could reconnect and hear about the fresh vision and mission of UVF despite being unable to gather in person. One way this was accomplished was by hosting Zoom calls with UVF professors during the lunch hours of that week. Dr. JoAnn Smith, Dr. David Dippold, Dr. Bruce Marino, and Professors Emeriti Kathleen Terragnoli and Dr. Malcolm Brubaker were the hosts for these fun calls, connecting and reconnecting with alumni from all over the country!

Along with the daily Zoom calls with Professors, the UVF Alumni Facebook page posted video updates from each academic department chair as they shared updates within their respective department with alumni. If you missed it, those videos can be viewed here. On the evening of Tuesday, October 13th, around 20 alumni from the 1980 and 1990s classes joined up for a Zoom call. It was an awesome time of connection, reminiscing, and sharing stories of their student experiences when at UVF.

On Thursday, October 15th, UVF also hosted a live recording of the Sorry Not Sorry podcast hosted by Dr. Jerry Ireland and Professor Dominick Garcia. Dr. Ireland hosted special guest Dr. Don Immel, PennDel Ministry Network Superintendent, and they discussed baptism in the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, and what that practically means for the world and ministry of the local church. For those interested in watching it, that video can be viewed here. To cap off a fun and busy Homecoming week, on Friday the 16th, the UVF Alumni page hosted the main Homecoming event and were able to hear from staff, students, and President Kim about some of the amazing things God has been doing at UVF. If you missed it, or would like to watch it again, that video can be viewed here.

We are so thankful for all the hard work that faculty, staff, and alumni put into producing Homecoming Online this year, and we look forward to being able to have Homecoming in person again to connect with our wonderful alumni!
