One of our core values at UVF is “community is our calling” and that includes the global community! Every year, UVF holds a Missions Convention to introduce students to missionaries and their way of life. This year, the special guest speaker was Dr. Steve Pennington. He has served in AGWM Africa for nearly 30 years in multiple roles, including church planter, area director, team leader, and seminary president. We also had missionary guests from five different nations. They shared about their experiences and what it takes to be a missionary during chapel, as well as through other fun events!
All week, the chapel theme was missions, which gave students the opportunity to receive or act on a call from God. We also held a missionary community night where students joined missionaries outside to play fun cultural games. Then, the main event was a virtual Q+A session with seven representatives from the AGWM pipeline, which allowed students to ask their own questions about long-term, short-term, and internship-related missions work. Finally, students learned about the worldwide missions opportunities sponsored by UVF this year!
In 2021, there will be six student-led missions trips heading out all around the globe to minister to different groups of people of all ages! They will be spreading the love of Christ to Mexico, Tanzania, Wales, Brazil, Austria, and the Mohawk Reservation. After a successful Missions Convention, please keep our students in your prayers as they prepare for their own upcoming missionary experiences!
